About Me
Tingle is a collaborative project undertaken as part of the Apple Developer Academy program, involving a team of six individuals. In this project, I was involved in the research process and UI/UX design.
The objective of the project is to develop an application or game within a month timeframe with the challenge of “Improve the life of a community.”
Role: Design Lead
Involvement: Research process, Interface design, Illustration
Timeline: 1 month
We started by defining what community that we wanted to help by listing all of the possible community that we are engage and have the access to. And the top choice is…..
ADHD Community
With the new findings, we refined the challenge to:
Help ADHD people with average to above intelligence to focus for present-moment attention by diverting their impulsivity.
New challenge, new research journey. We begin new iteration of research to answer the new refined challenge by conducting desk research and group discussion.
To get the theoretical base from the medical perspective, we conducted desk research we found three domains in ADHD community that they struggle with, which are impulsivity, productivity, and social Relationship
People with ADHD may have an imbalance in the level of neurotransmitters in the brain
They need to receive sensory input as their coping mechanism to focus better and have better priority
Primary Research
We want to know the real actor’s perspective about the problem. So, we conduct user interview (people with ADHD and care givers) and expert interview (ADHD therapist)
User Pains
Easily distracted on low-priority activities
Unconsciously craving stimulation, such as continuously touching other people and trouble staying still
Expert Insight
Sensory seeking is merely a symptoms. However, it may trigger impulsivity and make it even more difficult to stay focused.
As a first-aid, ADHD people are professionally advised to fidget as their sensory provider to focus better, such as clenching slime during class.
People with ADHD usually present with attention control difficulty. They have difficulty to stay focused, so they need sensory input to support their brain function.
In order to help ADHD people to focus for present-moment attention by giving them a sensory input through haptic sensation in their Apple Watch.
Our product will solve the problem of Behavioral control difficulty that triggered impulsivity which leads into difficulties to stay focused or concentrate.
This is a solution to the challenge because by diverting their impulsivity to fidgeting, it helps providing sensory input so they can focus better.
A companion app that gives sensation of fidgeting and haptic through your Apple Watch (WatchOS) for ADHD people with average to above intelligence to divert their impulsivity into sensory input that they need.
Logo and Identity
We opted for warmer colors in our design to create a welcoming and calming experience for users of this tool. Scientifically, warmer colors are also recommended for individuals with ADHD, as they are less flashy and contribute to a less distracting environment for them.
